NYT business columnist James Flanigan looks at some for-profit education efforts to create tech tools for teachers and schools. Maybe I’m not enough of a tech head, but I still think that technology offers more leverage as a tool for data and information management than it does directly in the classroom, but we’ll see… One company not in the article, but doing some interesting stuff on the data feedback side, is Wireless Generation.

You’re not enough of a tech head. Might be worth perusing what’s going on at this year’s National Educational Computing Conference (and associated events), beginning this weekend in Atlanta. About 17,000 folks will be there – teachers, administrators, IT directors – at the school, district, and state levels, plus developers, vendors, PD providers, and college of education-types.
